BMW Northwest Fife, Washington Builder: Builder Owner: BMW Northwest, Inc. Architect: The Tsang Partnership Size: 68 x 309 x 15 A triangular site configuration influenced design of this wedge-shaped building that comes to an apex in the showroom. This feature provides dynamic visual impact and lots of natural light for display models. Sales personnel have excellent views of the lot and customers can "window shop" from their cars as they approach via a circular driveway. The 20,000 sq. ft. project incorporated a series of structural frames of varying widths to achieve the wedge profile. The dramatic shape was further enhanced through ample use of glass, brushed aluminum and stainless steel, all of which help convey the desired BMW image of elegance, sophistication and high technology. The result is a building that remains as stylish to-day as when it was erected in 1989.
